Malia McKinney

Prayer Minister

Malia was born in Honolulu and raised in Marin, after her family moved to California when she was five years old. Originally brought up in a devout Catholic family, Malia drifted away from God in college, but after having an encounter with Jesus in her 40’s, Malia fully committed her life to Christ!

After receiving a degree in European history from UC Davis, Malia spent 35 years in hospitality sales and marketing for major hotels. However, she began to feel called towards vocational ministry after volunteering in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco and joining the non-profit organization Because Justice Matters as an unpaid staff member.

As Prayer Minister at Reality SF, Malia is passionate about the church encountering Jesus and experiencing the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. She provides administrative support and serves as a leader for the Prayer Ministry, actively working with her husband David to develop and foster a culture of prayer in the church. Malia also facilitates one-on-one Immanuel Prayer sessions with congregants, drawing from her training as a certified coach and presenter for Immanuel Practicum.

Outside of ministry and work, Malia loves spending time with her family, including her 10 grandchildren and, of course, her Siamese cat Jazz.
