Tim Harvey

Pastoral Resident

Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, Tim spent his childhood moving between Canada, Mexico, and the United States. He grew up in a Christian home, but it wasn’t until his family was living in Mexico that he personally came to understand and receive the grace of Jesus. During a Bible conference, he opened up to a mentor about his desire to know Christ and came to rest in the truth that his salvation depended not on his own striving, but on what Jesus had already accomplished.

Tim attended Arizona State University, where he earned degrees in Finance and Supply Chain Management. He spent the first part of his career in supply chain management and concrete construction while remaining deeply involved in his local church and open to the possibility of vocational ministry. He served on his church’s teaching team and helped lead a growing young adult ministry alongside his wife. As the ministry grew and the demands of his career increased, a season of prayer and discernment led him to recognize God’s call into vocational ministry.

Tim had been familiar with Reality SF for several years, appreciating the church, its vision, and its work in the city from afar, but moving to San Francisco was never something he had in mind. However, the opportunity began to take shape after meeting Dave Lomas and Tim Chaddick through the pastoral cohort Searock in Oxford. Through prayer and discernment with his wife and their community, they came to believe that God was inviting them into a new season at Reality SF.

As a Pastoral Resident, Tim serves primarily on the Formation Team, supporting Community Groups and investing in the spiritual formation of the church, while also serving on Sundays and contributing to other areas of ministry. Throughout the three-year residency, he hopes to grow as a pastor, faithfully serve the church, and, Lord willing, eventually be sent out to plant a church.

Outside of ministry, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, hosting friends for dinner, and enjoying creation and community together. He has a love of cars, Mexican street food, and playing soccer. He also enjoys reading, cycling, board games, MMA, motorcycles, and hiking.
