Steve Binnquist

Missionary, YWAM San Francisco

Steve has served with YWAM San Francisco in the Tenderloin for over 20 years. He is passionate about relationships and the slow transformation of the Gospel in people and communities.

Steve and his wife, Kayla, have called San Francisco home for more than two decades, raising their family here and investing their lives in the city they love.

Steve currently serves as the Director of YWAM San Francisco, with a heart to see their neighbors and neighborhood renewed, and the Church equipped to share the love of Jesus with compassion and courage.

The ministry of YWAM is rooted in the Tenderloin, one of San Francisco’s most diverse and complex neighborhoods. Each week, their team creates places of welcome and belonging, shares meals, distributes food, walks alongside people experiencing homelessness and addiction, prays with neighbors, and builds long-term relationships. They also train and disciple young people, missionaries, volunteers, and local churches to live more deeply in the way of Jesus.

A significant part of Steve’s role is caring for and leading their missionary staff, building partnerships throughout the city, developing the ministry for the future, and helping ensure that YWAM San Francisco remains a healthy and faithful presence in the Tenderloin for years to come.

Outside of his role, Steve is working toward an MDiv with a focus on Christian Community Development at Northern Seminary and loves Giants baseball.

You can connect with Steve through email. If you’d like to financially support their ministry, you can give at ywamsanfrancisco.org/give.
